The Firth Singers are a celebrated, auditioned SATB choir of confident music readers formed in 2012 (originally called Pop Up Choir). They are conducted by vocal expert Fiona Firth, and perform music spanning the centuries, from Gabrieli, Tallis, Bach and Handel through to Tavener, Britten, Lauridsen, McDowall and many others.
Concert programmes are often themed and receive regular positive reviews from singers and audience alike for their variety and quality. Whilst depth and ease of tone, precision and engagement with the music are what the choir strive for, Fiona and choir members believe this is
best achieved in a fun, supportive and dynamic environment and this is an important part of this choir’s ethos.
The Firth Singers believe in supporting local and national charities, which they have done since inception. Amongst others they have raised funds for the Iain Rennie Hospice, Marie Curie, Air Ambulance, The Thomas Ball Children's Cancer Fund, Scoliosis Association UK, The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital and Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children’s Charity.
Rehearsals take place in Great Missenden approximately five times a term and the choir performs in three or more concerts a year, usually in local venues. Our recent ventures have included performances of Spem in Alium in London, bringing together four choirs and over a hundred singers, and a tour to Portugal, featuring a combined concert with host choir
Setúbal Voz.
